Pete "Dr. Pete" Field, Bass, Backing Vocals
Pete`s musical career began back in `62, when, as a twelve year old snotty-nosed pimply yob, he tried to follow in his Dad`s footsteps and started singing and playing 12-string acoustic in Country & western clubs and pubs around the South of England. He soon discovered how easy it was to make people laugh!
He thought the Bass guitar would be a lot easier to play, and so he tried to become the new Paul McCartney……………..He failed miserably!! However, playing in local bands around London and the South for the next two or three years was a good foundation for the next step in his glittering career.
He started jamming the legendary London Clubs, Marquee, Bag o`nails, Crawdaddy etc, playing the blues alongside the likes of Howlin`Wolf, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters and John Mayall. The late 60`s were strange days for Dr.Pete. His professional career began as a studio session musician backing artists like Dana, Emil Ford, Love Affair and other Pop-trash acts. At the same time he was playing live such diverse bands as the pre- Hawkwind project, supporting Pink Floyd, UFO, Status Quo and the Edgar Broughton Band . He also strayed into the Soul and Ska scene with Geno Washington and the Ram-Jam Band and The Skatalites ……no wonder he's schizo!
The 70`s & 80`s found him jumping between Heavy Metal, Glam Rock and the cabaret circuit with bands like Flash Harry ( where he he learned a lot about Managers, Agents, Groupies and broken Ford Transits!) Freddie & the Dreamers, Ivy League and the New Seekers. He was still busy as a session player, but this time mainly around the Manchester and Liverpool area. He laid a lot tracks down in the famous Strawberry studios of 10cc.
After more than Twenty years on the road, he concentrated on his Cartooning career, which eventually led him to Germany where he became very successful... but bored!
His Lady, Marika made him answer an ad in a local paper for a Bass-player, He got the job, and over the past few years has been playing with local bands. Eventually he met up with Diethard & Fringo, the chemistry was magic, and the rest, as they say, is history. Dr Pete has gone full circle, and is now a 50+ year old snotty-nosed pimply geriatric trying to be Paul McCartney, doing what he does best………..Back to the Beat!
