Günther "G-String" Schäffner, Guitar
I was 12 years old when I got my first guitar and I learnt how to play by listening to records of The Stones for hours on end and teaching myself the basics (and you all know how old I am now and how long it took…). At the beginning it sounded terrible but it soon got better. Later on I rocked at the campfire at Boy Scouts and then came puberty and my interests moved in other directions, namely in the direction of the girls, motorbikes, football and drinking etc. If years later my friends hadn’t asked me to join a band for carnival my guitar could well have now been picking up dust in my cellar. And so, a star was born and the “Hoi-Doi’s” were founded! We have been going strong for over 18 years now and I have a lot of fun with the band. I found out that Helen & The Poor Boys were looking for a new guitarist through Klaus, the drummer in the Hoi-Doi’s and I was immediately interested. With shivering knees, shaking fingers and a sweating brow I attended “The Casting”. However, within a few minutes of meeting everyone my nerves were put at ease seen as we all got on brilliantly. I knew that was the beginning of something great!! Mail: ed.syoBrooPehTdnAneleH@rehtneuG
